Overview of the medicine
Romycin 1% Eye Drop contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis and other ocular bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
1 drop twice daily for 2 days, then 1 drop once daily for 5 days.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment necessary for elderly patients.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment necessary for patients with renal impairment with ophthalmic use.
How to Take
For ophthalmic use only. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill one drop into the affected eye(s).
Mechanism of Action
Azithromycin works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth.
