Description
Overview of the medicine
Sinoline 100 mg Syrup contains Sinolastine, a potent second-generation antihistamine with decongestant properties, used for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and common cold.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adults and children 12 years and older: 10 ml (200 mg) once daily.
Elderly
No special dosage adjustment required, but caution in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function.
Renal_impairment
Reduce dose to 5 ml (100 mg) once daily for creatinine clearance <30 ml/min.
How to Take
Oral. May be taken with or without food. Use a measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Sinolastine acts as a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist, inhibiting the effects of histamine. Its decongestant action is due to alpha-adrenergic activity, causing vasoconstriction in nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion.

Mainly excreted in urine (70%) and feces (30%) as metabolites.

Rapidly absorbed from the GI tract. Peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours.

Primarily hepatic metabolism via CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 isoenzymes.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Sinolastine or any component of the syrup
- Severe hypertension
- Severe coronary artery disease
- Patients receiving MAO inhibitor therapy or within 14 days of discontinuing such treatment
Drug Interactions
Beta-blockers
May increase the risk of hypertension and bradycardia.
MAO Inhibitors
May prolong and intensify the cardiac and vasopressor effects of the decongestant component.
Tricyclic Antidepressants
May increase the risk of cardiovascular effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include drowsiness, tachycardia, hypertension, and seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered if taken recently.

Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk, caution advised.
