Toxanamine Hydrochloride acts centrally by elevating the cough threshold in the medulla oblongata, thereby suppressing the cough reflex.

• •Hypersensitivity to Toxanamine Hydrochloride or any component of the syrup.
• •Acute asthma or severe respiratory depression.
• •Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping MAO inhibitors.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms include severe drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, respiratory depression. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered if taken recently.

Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. Consult a physician. Excreted in breast milk, so caution advised for breastfeeding mothers.
