Description
Overview of the medicine
Toti 1 mg Tablet is an anxiolytic medication used to treat generalized anxiety disorder and short-term insomnia. It works by enhancing the effect of a natural chemical in the body (GABA) that calms brain activity.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 0.5 mg - 1 mg once daily, preferably at bedtime. Max 2 mg/day, adjusted based on response and tolerability.
Elderly
Initial dose 0.5 mg once daily, preferably at bedtime. Dose adjustments should be made cautiously due to increased sensitivity.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution. Dosage adjustments may be necessary, starting with a lower dose (e.g., 0.5 mg once daily).
How to Take
Take the tablet orally with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Toti acts by potentiating the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system, leading to calming effects and reduced anxiety.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Anxiolytic and sedative effects typically begin within 30-60 minutes.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in the urine as glucuronide conjugates.
Half life
Approximately 6-8 hours, with some inter-individual variability.
Absorption
Rapidly and well absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via glucuronidation. No significant active metabolites.
