Overview of the medicine
Travoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin F2α analog used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment is required.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is required.
How to Take
Instill one drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s). If using other ophthalmic drops, wait at least 5 minutes between applications. After instillation, nasolacrimal occlusion or gentle closing of the eyelid is recommended.
Mechanism of Action
Travoprost is a prostaglandin F2α analog that is a selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist. It works by increasing uveoscleral outflow, thereby reducing intraocular pressure.
