Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
15 mg once daily, preferably with food.
Elderly
15 mg once daily; dose adjustment may be necessary based on renal function.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate impairment: 15 mg once daily. Severe impairment: Use with caution, dose reduction may be necessary or contraindicated.
Hepatic_impairment
Mild to moderate impairment: No dose adjustment needed. Severe impairment: Use with caution, consider lower dose.
How to Take
Take the tablet orally with a glass of water, preferably with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Trifluxen exerts its effects by selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, and fever pathways. It has a high selectivity for COX-2, minimizing gastrointestinal side effects.

- Third trimester of pregnancy
Drug Interactions
Lithium
May increase lithium plasma levels.
Diuretics
May reduce diuretic efficacy and increase the risk of renal impairment.
Methotrexate
May increase methotrexate toxicity.
Other NSAIDs (including aspirin)
Increased risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects.
Warfarin and other anticoagulants
Increased risk of bleeding.
ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs)
May reduce the antihypertensive effect and increase the risk of renal impairment.

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Management is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered within the first hour of ingestion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C (D in third trimester). Avoid use in the third trimester due to potential adverse effects on the fetal cardiovascular system. Use during pregnancy and lactation only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant, and consult a doctor.
