Description
Overview of the medicine
Trioskin-005-1-cream is a combination topical preparation containing a corticosteroid (Fluocinolone Acetonide), an antifungal (Miconazole Nitrate), and an antibiotic (Neomycin Sulfate). It is used to treat various inflammatory skin conditions complicated by fungal and/or bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area 2-3 times daily, or as directed by a physician. Continue for a few days after symptoms disappear.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment is generally required, but caution is advised in prolonged use due to potential for skin thinning.
Renal_impairment
Minimal systemic absorption, so renal impairment is not typically a concern for topical use. However, prolonged use over large areas should be avoided.
How to Take
For external use only. Wash hands before and after application. Apply a thin film of cream to cover the entire affected area and gently rub in. Do not apply to open wounds or mucous membranes. Avoid contact with eyes.
Mechanism of Action
Fluocinolone Acetonide, a corticosteroid, reduces inflammation, itching, and redness. Miconazole Nitrate is an antifungal that inhibits the growth of fungi by disrupting their cell membranes. Neomycin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that prevents bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Symptomatic relief can begin within a few days of starting treatment.
Excretion
Systemically absorbed components are primarily excreted renally.
Half life
Not well-established for topical application due to minimal systemic absorption; localized effect.
Absorption
Systemic absorption is minimal for all three components when applied topically, especially through intact skin. Absorption may increase with occlusive dressings or damaged skin.
Metabolism
Any systemically absorbed components are primarily metabolized in the liver.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Fluocinolone Acetonide, Miconazole Nitrate, Neomycin Sulfate, or any other component of the cream.
- •Viral skin infections (e.g., herpes simplex, varicella).
- •Tuberculosis of the skin.
- •Acne vulgaris, rosacea, perioral dermatitis.
Drug Interactions
None significant for topical application
Systemic absorption is minimal, therefore clinically significant drug interactions are unlikely with topical use.
Storage
Store in a cool and dry place, below 25°C. Protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Topical overdose is unlikely to cause acute systemic effects due to minimal absorption. However, prolonged excessive use may lead to local side effects (e.g., skin atrophy) and, rarely, systemic corticosteroid effects. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation. Consult a doctor before use. Avoid prolonged use or application to large areas, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
