Overview of the medicine
Vincet 5 mg Tablet is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergies such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes, as well as chronic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
5-10 mg once daily, depending on severity of symptoms.
Elderly
Generally 5 mg once daily; dosage adjustments may be needed based on renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dosage should be reduced based on creatinine clearance (e.g., 5 mg every other day for moderate impairment).
How to Take
Take orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Cetirizine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a natural substance that causes allergic symptoms.

Onset of action within 20-60 minutes.
Excretion
Primarily excreted in the urine, with about two-thirds of the administered dose excreted unchanged.

Approximately 8-11 hours in adults.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching peak plasma concentrations within 1 hour.
Metabolism
Undergoes limited hepatic metabolism; a major portion is excreted unchanged.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any piperazine derivative.
- •Severe renal impairment (CrCl < 10 mL/min).
Drug Interactions
Theophylline (400 mg/day)
A small decrease in cetirizine clearance has been observed; however, dosage adjustments are generally not required.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants
May increase drowsiness and impair performance.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include drowsiness, agitation (especially in children), restlessness, and fatigue. Management is symptomatic and supportive; there is no specific antidote.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use with caution during pregnancy if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk; use with caution in nursing mothers.
