Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For severe deficiency or Wernicke's encephalopathy: 100 mg IM or slow IV daily for several days, then 50-100 mg IM daily until adequate diet. For prophylaxis: 50-100 mg IM or IV once daily.
Elderly
Similar to adults, but renal function should be considered for dosage adjustment.
Renal_impairment
No specific dose adjustment is usually required, as excess is excreted, but caution is advised in severe cases.
How to Take
Administer by deep intramuscular (IM) injection or by slow intravenous (IV) injection. IV administration should be slow (over 5-10 minutes) to avoid potential adverse reactions.
