Overview of the medicine
Volant 75 mg capsule contains Pregabalin, an antiepileptic and anxiolytic drug used to treat neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and generalized anxiety disorder.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial 75 mg twice daily, may be increased to 150-300 mg twice daily, maximum 600 mg/day.
Elderly
Dosage adjustment may be necessary due to reduced renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dosage must be reduced significantly based on creatinine clearance.
How to Take
Administer orally with or without food. Swallow whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Pregabalin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing the release of several neurotransmitters including glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P. This results in analgesic, anxiolytic, and anticonvulsant effects.
