Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic used to treat a variety of worm infestations.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
400 mg as a single dose for ascariasis, hookworm, whipworm, and pinworm infections. For hydatid disease, 400 mg twice daily for 28 days, repeated as needed.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustments are necessary for elderly patients, but caution should be exercised due to potential age-related decline in organ function.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustments are necessary for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food, but absorption is improved with a fatty meal. Chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.
