How to Take
Oral administration. Take with or without food. Use a measuring spoon/cup for accurate dosage.
Mechanism of Action
Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent by depolymerizing mucopolysaccharides in bronchial secretions, leading to liquefaction of mucus. It also stimulates the production of pulmonary surfactant, which helps to stabilize the alveoli and promote mucociliary clearance.

Approximately 10 hours

Rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the GI tract.

Undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver to various inactive metabolites.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or any component of the formulation
- •Patients with rare hereditary conditions of fructose intolerance (due to sorbitol content)
Drug Interactions
Antitussives (cough suppressants)
Concurrent use may lead to a dangerous accumulation of bronchial secretions due to inhibition of the cough reflex.
Antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, doxycycline)
Ambroxol can increase the concentration of antibiotics in bronchial secretions, potentially enhancing their therapeutic effect.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose are generally mild and may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dyspepsia. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive; gastric lavage may be considered in severe cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use in pregnancy (especially first trimester) and lactation only if clearly necessary and under medical supervision. Ambroxol crosses the placental barrier and is excreted in breast milk.
