Aprodust 2 mg Tablet contains Desloratadine, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual adult dose of Desloratadine is 5 mg once daily. For Aprodust 2 mg tablet, specific doctor's advice should be followed, especially if prescribed for adults.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment generally needed, but caution advised. Consider lower dose if renal or hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
For patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance <50 mL/min) or hepatic impairment, a starting dose of 2.5 mg or 5 mg every other day is recommended.
How to Take
Aprodust 2 mg Tablet should be taken orally, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Desloratadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist. It inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells and basophils, and also inhibits a cascade of reactions that contribute to allergic inflammation.

Eliminated equally via urine and feces.

Approximately 27 hours.

Rapidly absorbed after oral administration; peak plasma concentrations reached in approximately 3 hours.

Ketoconazole, Erythromycin, Azithromycin, Fluoxetine, Cimetidine
No clinically significant pharmacokinetic interactions have been observed with these drugs.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In the event of an overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended. Desloratadine is not eliminated by hemodialysis.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use only if potential benefit outweighs risk. Desloratadine is excreted into breast milk; caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman. Consult your doctor.
