Description
Overview of the medicine
Axxo is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and some sexually transmitted infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250-500 mg orally every 12 hours, depending on infection severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment needed unless renal impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
Dose reduction may be necessary for severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min).
How to Take
Can be taken with or without food. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed.
Mechanism of Action
Axxo inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.

Contraindications

Probenecid

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and convulsions. Management is primarily supportive and symptomatic. Hemodialysis may be useful in severe cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use with caution during pregnancy if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk, use with caution during lactation.
