Benkinson 50 mg Capsule contains Benifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
50 mg once daily for 7-14 days, depending on the infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless renal impairment is present.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment required for CrCl < 30 mL/min; typically 25 mg once daily.
How to Take
Take orally with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not chew or crush the capsule.
Mechanism of Action
Benifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes involved in bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Benifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones
- History of tendon disorders associated with fluoroquinolones
- Children under 18 years

Warfarin
May enhance anticoagulant effects, requiring INR monitoring.
Theophylline
May increase theophylline levels and risk of toxicity.
Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum
Can reduce Benifloxacin absorption. Administer at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after antacids.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of overdose, symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and confusion. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage and activated charcoal if appropriate. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy due to potential fetal risks. Excreted in breast milk, avoid during lactation or use with caution after consulting a doctor.
