Description
Overview of the medicine
Clarex is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, and itching. It also treats hives and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adults and adolescents 12 years and over: 5 mg once daily.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment recommended for elderly patients with normal renal function.
Renal_impairment
For patients with renal impairment, a starting dose of 5 mg every other day is recommended.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Desloratadine is a selective peripheral histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells and reduces inflammatory mediators, thereby alleviating allergy symptoms.

Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In the event of an overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be initiated. Desloratadine is not eliminated by hemodialysis.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Category C. Use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus. Lactation: Desloratadine is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman.
