Description
Overview of the medicine
CVnor-A is a combination medication containing Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and Atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. It is used to treat high blood pressure and high cholesterol, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually one tablet once daily. Dosage may be adjusted based on individual response and tolerability. Max Amlodipine 10mg, Atorvastatin 80mg.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment for Amlodipine; caution with Atorvastatin, start with lower doses.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment for Amlodipine; for Atorvastatin, no dose adjustment in mild to moderate impairment, use with caution in severe.
How to Take
Take orally, once daily, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure. Atorvastatin reduces the production of cholesterol in the liver, lowering 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and increasing 'good' cholesterol (HDL).

Half life
Amlodipine: 30-50 hours. Atorvastatin: Parent drug 14 hours (active metabolites longer).
Absorption
Amlodipine: Slowly and almost completely absorbed. Atorvastatin: Rapidly absorbed.
Metabolism
Amlodipine: Extensive hepatic metabolism to inactive metabolites. Atorvastatin: Extensively metabolized by CYP3A4 to active and inactive metabolites.
