Desodin 5 mg Tablet is an advanced, non-sedating antihistamine used for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
1 tablet (5 mg) once daily.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is generally required, but caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
For patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min), a reduced frequency of administration (e.g., 5 mg every other day) may be considered.
How to Take
Desodin 5 mg Tablet should be taken orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Desodin selectively antagonizes peripheral H1-histamine receptors, thereby inhibiting the effects of histamine and alleviating allergic symptoms. It does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, resulting in minimal to no sedation.
