Overview of the medicine
Dexogut 60 mg Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat various gastrointestinal conditions caused by excessive stomach acid.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For healing of EE: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For maintenance of healed EE and relief of heartburn: 30 mg or 60 mg once daily. For symptomatic non-erosive GERD: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment necessary for elderly patients.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment necessary for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole; do not chew or crush. For patients who have difficulty swallowing, capsules may be opened and sprinkled onto a tablespoon of applesauce and swallowed immediately.
Mechanism of Action
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that blocks the final step in gastric acid secretion by irreversibly binding to the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cells.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 2-3 hours for acid suppression.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine (about 50%) and feces (about 23%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 1-2 hours.
Absorption
Well absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations occurring within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) system, primarily CYP2C19 and CYP3A4.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dexlansoprazole or any component of the formulation.
- Concomitant use with rilpivirine-containing products.
Drug Interactions
Digoxin
Increased absorption of digoxin, monitor digoxin levels.
Warfarin
Increased INR and prothrombin time, monitor carefully.
Tacrolimus
Increased tacrolimus levels, monitor closely.
Clopidogrel
Potential reduction in clopidogrel's antiplatelet effect, consider alternative PPIs or antiplatelet therapy.
Methotrexate
Increased and prolonged methotrexate serum levels, monitor for toxicity.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
No specific antidote. Symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended in case of overdose.
