Overview of the medicine
Dotinurad 0.5 mg Tablet is used to treat hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid in the blood), often associated with gout. It works by increasing the excretion of uric acid from the body, thereby lowering serum uric acid levels.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically 0.5 mg once daily, may be increased based on serum uric acid levels and patient response, up to a maximum of 4 mg once daily.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment generally required, but caution is advised due to potential age-related renal function decline.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment may be necessary in severe renal impairment. Contraindicated in end-stage renal disease (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²).
How to Take
Oral. Take with or without food.
Mechanism of Action
Dotinurad selectively inhibits the OAT4 and OAT10 transporters in the renal tubules, which are responsible for the reabsorption of uric acid. By inhibiting these transporters, it promotes the excretion of uric acid into the urine, thereby lowering serum uric acid concentrations.
