e-flu-500-mg-capsule is an antiviral medication used for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza (flu) caused by influenza A and B viruses. It helps to reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Treatment: 500 mg capsule orally twice daily for 5 days. Prophylaxis: 500 mg capsule orally once daily for at least 10 days.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required, but caution advised for those with significant renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Creatinine clearance 10-30 mL/min: 500 mg once daily for treatment; 500 mg every other day for prophylaxis. CrCl < 10 mL/min: Not recommended or consult specialist.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Taking with food may improve tolerability in some patients.
Mechanism of Action
e-flu-500-mg-capsule works by inhibiting the neuraminidase enzyme, which is essential for the influenza virus to replicate and spread from infected cells to other healthy cells in the body. By inhibiting this enzyme, the drug prevents the release of new viral particles, thereby reducing the viral load and the severity and duration of flu symptoms.
