Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically 20 mg or 40 mg once daily, depending on the condition. For severe GERD/Erosive Esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. For H. pylori eradication: 40 mg once daily for 10 days with appropriate antibiotics. For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial 40 mg twice daily, adjusted as needed.

How to Take
Take whole tablet at least one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. Do not chew or crush.
Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that specifically inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the 'proton pump') in the gastric parietal cells. This inhibition blocks the final step in acid production, reducing both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
