Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
5-10 ml (2-4 mg) three times daily. Maximum 6 mg (15 ml) per single dose. Maximum 12 mg (30 ml) in 24 hours.
Elderly
Start with a lower dose (e.g., 5 ml two times daily) due to increased susceptibility to side effects and reduced renal clearance. Adjust based on response and tolerability.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution. Dosage adjustment may be required; a reduced frequency or dose may be appropriate. Consult a physician.

Side Effects

Drug Interactions
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Can prolong and intensify the anticholinergic effects of Expillin, including severe hypotension and CNS depression.
CNS Depressants (e.g., alcohol, sedatives, hypnotics)
Increased sedative effect, potentially leading to severe drowsiness or respiratory depression.
Anticholinergic Drugs (e.g., tricyclic antidepressants, atropine)
Additive anticholinergic effects, leading to increased risk of dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, and constipation.
Storage

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, blurred vision, dry mouth, urinary retention, dilated pupils, fever, flushing, and in severe cases, convulsions or coma. Management involves supportive and symptomatic care, including gastric lavage or activated charcoal if ingestion is recent. Monitor vital signs and maintain airway.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Not recommended for nursing mothers as it can be excreted in breast milk and may cause adverse effects in infants. Consult your doctor before use.
