Oral tablets should be taken with water. Injections are administered intravenously or intramuscularly by a healthcare professional.

Ephedrine acts directly on alpha and beta adrenergic receptors and also indirectly by promoting the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic neurons.

• •Hypersensitivity to ephedrine or other sympathomimetics
• •Angle-closure glaucoma
• •Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors (within 14 days)
• •Severe hypertension or coronary artery disease
• •Prostatic hypertrophy with urinary retention

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms of overdose include restlessness, tremor, palpitations, severe hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, paranoia, hallucinations, and seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, managing blood pressure and cardiac rhythm.

Pregnancy Category C. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Excreted into breast milk, use with caution in breastfeeding mothers.
