Overview of the medicine
Fertil (Clomiphene Citrate) is a non-steroidal fertility medicine used to induce ovulation in women who are unable to conceive due to ovulatory dysfunction.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
50 mg once daily for 5 days, starting on or about the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. May be increased to 100 mg if no ovulation occurs.
Elderly
Not applicable for this indication.

Use with caution; specific dosage adjustments not well-established.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food, exactly as directed by the doctor. It is typically taken for 5 days starting early in the menstrual cycle.
Mechanism of Action
Clomiphene blocks estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, leading to an increased release of gonadotropins (FSH and LH) from the pituitary gland. These gonadotropins stimulate ovarian follicular growth and ovulation.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Danazol
May increase ovarian response to clomiphene.
Gonadotropins
May increase the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS).
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, hot flushes, pelvic pain, visual blurring. Management is symptomatic and supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Not recommended during lactation as it may decrease milk production.
