Description
Overview of the medicine
Finapark 100 mg Tablet is a centrally acting muscle relaxant used for the symptomatic treatment of spasticity and muscle spasm.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initially 50 mg three times daily, gradually increased to 150 mg three times daily according to patient need and tolerability. Max daily dose 450 mg.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required, but caution is advised due to potential age-related decrease in renal and hepatic function.
Renal_impairment
In severe renal impairment, dose should be individualized with careful monitoring. Initial dose 50 mg once daily, gradually increased.
How to Take
Take tablets after meals with a glass of water. This improves absorption and reduces gastrointestinal side effects.
Mechanism of Action
Tolperisone acts at the spinal cord level to reduce reflex excitability. It also has membrane-stabilizing effects and inhibits voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels, leading to reduced neurotransmitter release and inhibition of polysynaptic reflexes.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 1 hour
Excretion
Mainly excreted by the kidneys, almost exclusively as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 1.5-2.5 hours
Absorption
Well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, but undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism. Bioavailability is about 20%. Peak plasma concentration is reached within 0.5-1.5 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes (mainly CYP2B6, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2C9/19) into several metabolites.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Tolperisone or to any of the excipients.
- •Myasthenia gravis.
- •Children (Tolperisone is not recommended for children due to lack of sufficient data).
Drug Interactions

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, dizziness, abdominal pain. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
