Description
Overview of the medicine

How to Take
Finen 10 mg Tablet should be taken orally, once daily, with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. It blocks the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels, Finasteride helps to shrink the enlarged prostate.

Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily via cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme.

However, caution is advised with concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole, ritonavir, due to potential for increased Finasteride levels.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
No specific treatment for Finasteride overdose is known. Symptomatic and supportive measures are recommended.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Finasteride is contraindicated in pregnant women due to the risk of fetal abnormalities (e.g., hypospadias) in male fetuses. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken Finasteride tablets. Not indicated for use in women, therefore, no data on lactation.
