Overview of the medicine
Flexi, containing Tolperisone Hydrochloride, is a centrally acting muscle relaxant indicated for the symptomatic treatment of spasticity and muscle spasm in various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual adult dose is 50-150 mg three times daily, adjusted according to individual response and tolerability. It is advisable to start with 50 mg three times daily and gradually increase.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is generally required, but caution is advised in elderly patients due to potential age-related physiological changes.
Renal_impairment
In patients with moderate renal impairment, a lower dose should be initiated with careful titration. Not recommended in severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally, usually after meals, with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Tolperisone acts on the central nervous system, primarily in the spinal cord and brain stem, to inhibit mono- and polysynaptic reflex activities. It achieves muscle relaxation by stabilizing neuronal membranes and reducing the excitability of motor neurons without causing sedation.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
NSAIDs

Concomitant use with other centrally acting muscle relaxants may enhance the muscle relaxant effect; dosage adjustment may be needed.

Overdose
In case of overdose, symptoms may include drowsiness, gastrointestinal disturbances, and rarely convulsions. Management is symptomatic and supportive. Contact emergency services or a poison control center immediately.
