Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For most infections, 250 mg once daily or 125 mg twice daily. Severe infections may require 500 mg once daily.

Renal_impairment

Mechanism of Action

Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Antibacterial effects typically begin within 1-2 hours of administration.

Mainly excreted through renal excretion (urine), with a smaller portion eliminated via biliary/fecal routes.
Half life
The elimination half-life is approximately 8-10 hours, allowing for once or twice daily dosing.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via CYP450 enzymes, with several active and inactive metabolites formed.
