Flustat 10 mg Tablet is an antiviral medication used to treat influenza (flu) by preventing the virus from spreading in the body. It helps to reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Treatment: 10 mg twice daily for 5 days. Prevention: 10 mg once daily for 7 days.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless significant renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Creatinine clearance 30-60 mL/min: 10 mg once daily. Creatinine clearance <30 mL/min: Not recommended.
How to Take
May be taken with or without food. To maximize absorption and reduce gastrointestinal upset, it is generally recommended to take with food.
Mechanism of Action
Fluviramidine selectively inhibits neuraminidase, an enzyme found on the surface of the influenza virus. This inhibition prevents the release of new viral particles from infected cells, thereby stopping the spread of the virus within the respiratory tract.
