Fungakil 0.0025% Ointment is a topical antifungal medication used to treat various fungal skin infections, including athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch. It works by inhibiting the growth of fungi.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer to the affected area and surrounding skin twice daily (morning and evening) for 2-4 weeks. Continue treatment for at least 1 week after symptoms disappear.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required; use as per adult dosage.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required as systemic absorption is minimal.
How to Take
For external use only. Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before application. Apply a thin layer of ointment and gently rub it in. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
Mechanism of Action
Clotrimazole inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This leads to structural and functional impairment of the cytoplasmic membrane, resulting in leakage of cellular contents and ultimately cell death.
