Furotil 750 mg Injection is administered by deep intramuscular (IM) injection or by slow intravenous (IV) injection over 3 to 5 minutes, or by continuous IV infusion. For IM use, reconstitute with sterile water for injection.

Cefuroxime is a bactericidal agent that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which interferes with the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in the bacterial cell wall, thereby inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis and leading to cell lysis.

• •Hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, any other cephalosporin antibiotic, or any of the excipients.
• •History of severe hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylactic reaction) to any other type of beta-lactam antibacterial agent (e.g., penicillins, monobactams, carbapenems).

Store below 25°C to 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Reconstituted solution should be used immediately or stored for a limited time (e.g., 24 hours at 2-8°C or 5 hours at 25°C) depending on specific product instructions.

Symptoms of overdose may include cerebral irritation leading to convulsions. Management is primarily supportive and symptomatic. Hemodialysis may be useful in reducing cefuroxime serum levels.

Pregnancy Category B. Cefuroxime crosses the placenta and is excreted in breast milk. While generally considered safe, it should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
