Description
Overview of the medicine
Hairgain-2 Scalp Solution contains Minoxidil 2%, a topical medication used to stimulate hair growth and prevent further hair loss in individuals with androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness). It is applied directly to the scalp.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply 1 mL of solution twice daily to the affected areas of the scalp. Ensure the scalp is completely dry before application.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required; use as per adult dosage.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required for topical application due to minimal systemic absorption.
How to Take
For external use only. Apply 1 mL to the clean, dry scalp directly to the area of hair loss. Rub in gently with fingertips. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
Mechanism of Action
Minoxidil is a direct-acting peripheral vasodilator. When applied topically, its exact mechanism of action for hair growth is not fully understood but is thought to involve the stimulation of resting hair follicles (telogen phase) into active growth (anagen phase) and the prolongation of the anagen phase. It may also increase blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, and possibly increase the size of hair follicles.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Hair regrowth usually takes at least 4 months of twice-daily application.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine.
Half life
Systemic half-life is approximately 22 hours.
Absorption
Approximately 1.4-1.7% of a topically applied dose is absorbed systemically through the skin.
Metabolism
Metabolized primarily by conjugation with glucuronic acid in the liver.
