Herpigel contains Acyclovir, an antiviral agent, used for the treatment of cold sores (herpes simplex labialis) and genital herpes.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply to the affected area 5 times daily for 4 days. If symptoms persist, treatment may be continued for up to 10 days.

How to Take
Apply a thin layer of cream to cover the affected area and the immediate surrounding healthy skin. Wash hands before and after application. Avoid touching eyes after application. Do not apply inside the mouth or nose.
Mechanism of Action
Acyclovir is a synthetic nucleoside analog that inhibits replication of herpes simplex viruses. It is phosphorylated intracellularly to its active triphosphate form, which then selectively inhibits viral DNA polymerase and incorporates into viral DNA, leading to chain termination.
