Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One 740 mg tablet once daily for 3-7 days, depending on infection severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is usually required, but monitor renal function.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate impairment: No adjustment. Severe impairment: Use with caution, consider dose reduction.
How to Take
Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Humphry 740 mg Tablet inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby interfering with the translocation of peptides. This leads to a bacteriostatic effect, preventing the growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Peak plasma concentrations reached within 2-3 hours.
Excretion
Mainly through bile and feces, a small portion via urine.
Half life
Approximately 12-15 hours, allowing for once-daily dosing.
Absorption
Well absorbed orally, bioavailability is around 60-70%. Food may slightly decrease absorption.
Metabolism
Primarily hepatic, undergoes partial metabolism via CYP3A4 enzymes.

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Humphry or any macrolide antibiotic
- Severe hepatic impairment
- History of cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction associated with prior use of macrolides
Drug Interactions
Digoxin
May increase digoxin levels; monitor digoxin concentration.
Warfarin
May increase anticoagulant effect; monitor INR.
Cyclosporine
May increase cyclosporine levels; monitor cyclosporine concentration.
Antacids (aluminum and magnesium-containing)
May reduce absorption; separate administration by 2 hours.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of overdose, gastric lavage and symptomatic supportive treatment are recommended. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk; caution advised during lactation.
