Description
Overview of the medicine
Hysomide 10 mg tablet is a potent loop diuretic used to treat edema associated with congestive heart failure, renal disease, and hepatic cirrhosis, as well as hypertension.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For edema: Initially 10-20 mg once daily, adjusted based on response. For hypertension: 5-10 mg once daily.
Elderly
Start with a lower dose and monitor closely.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment may be necessary; monitor electrolyte levels.
How to Take
Take orally, with or without food, preferably in the morning to avoid nocturia.
Mechanism of Action
Blocks sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, leading to increased excretion of water, sodium, chloride, potassium, and hydrogen ions.

Typically within 30-60 minutes after oral administration.

Primarily via the kidneys through both glomerular filtration and tubular secretion.

Contraindications

Drug Interactions
NSAIDs

Digoxin

Aminoglycoside antibiotics
Increased risk of ototoxicity.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms include dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, hypotension. Management involves fluid and electrolyte replacement, and supportive care.
