Imakin 400 mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
400 mg once daily for 7-14 days, depending on the infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required unless renal function is impaired.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment required for creatinine clearance <30 mL/min.
How to Take
Orally, with or without food. Avoid taking with antacids, iron, or zinc supplements.
Mechanism of Action
Imakin (Imakifloxacin) inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes necessary for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Primarily excreted unchanged in urine, with some fecal excretion.

Absorption
Rapidly and well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Metabolism
Minimally metabolized in the liver.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to Imakifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones
- •History of tendon disorders associated with quinolone use
- •Children and adolescents (due to cartilage damage risk)
Drug Interactions
NSAIDs
May increase CNS stimulation and seizure risk.
Warfarin
May enhance anticoagulant effects, leading to increased bleeding risk.
Antacids, Sucralfate, Iron/Zinc Salts
Reduce absorption of Imakifloxacin. Administer at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture.
Overdose
Gastric lavage, symptomatic and supportive treatment. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Category C in pregnancy. Avoid during lactation as it is excreted in breast milk.
