Overview of the medicine
Inket (Ketorolac Tromethamine) is a potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the short-term management of moderately severe acute pain that requires analgesia at the opioid level.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Oral: 10 mg every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 40 mg/day. Maximum duration 5 days.
Elderly
Lower doses may be required, e.g., 10 mg every 6-8 hours, not to exceed 40 mg/day. Maximum duration 5 days.
Renal_impairment
Reduced dosage (e.g., 10 mg every 6-8 hours) or avoided in severe impairment. Maximum 20 mg/day.
How to Take
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal upset.
Mechanism of Action
Ketorolac inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by reversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing inflammation, pain, and fever.

Mainly renal (approximately 90%), with a small amount in feces.

- Hypersensitivity to ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation
- Severe renal impairment
- Advanced heart failure
- Cerebrovascular bleeding
- Coagulation disorders
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Peri-operative pain in CABG surgery
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, Heparin
Increased risk of bleeding.
Lithium, Methotrexate
Increased plasma levels of these drugs, leading to toxicity.
Diuretics, ACE inhibitors
Reduced efficacy of these drugs, increased risk of renal impairment.
Other NSAIDs, Corticosteroids
Increased risk of GI side effects.

Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, lethargy. Management is supportive and symptomatic; gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered if recent. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy (especially third trimester due to risk of premature closure of ductus arteriosus) and lactation.
