Description
Overview of the medicine
Miclo-005 Cream contains Clobetasol Propionate, a highly potent corticosteroid, used for short-term treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas once or twice daily. Do not exceed 50g per week. Treatment should not exceed 2 consecutive weeks.
Elderly
Same as adults, but caution should be exercised due to potentially thinner skin.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required, as systemic absorption is minimal.
How to Take
For external use only. Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub in gently. Wash hands after application. Avoid contact with eyes.
Mechanism of Action
Clobetasol Propionate is a corticosteroid that works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching. It inhibits the release of various inflammatory mediators and suppresses the immune response.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Effects typically seen within a few days of consistent application.
Excretion
Excreted mainly via urine, with some via bile.
Half life
Not precisely determined for topical application due to minimal systemic absorption; systemic half-life of corticosteroids generally varies.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption occurs after topical application, but can increase with occlusive dressings, damaged skin, or in children.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver, similar to other corticosteroids.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any excipients
- •Rosacea
- •Acne vulgaris
- •Perioral dermatitis
- •Pruritus without inflammation
- •Viral, fungal or bacterial skin infections (untreated)
Drug Interactions
CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., Ritonavir, Itraconazole)
May increase systemic exposure and risk of side effects, use with caution.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Topical overdose is unlikely to cause acute systemic problems. Chronic overdose or misuse can lead to Cushing's syndrome symptoms or local skin atrophy. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive; gradual withdrawal if systemic effects occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Consult a doctor. Caution is advised during lactation; it is not known whether topical clobetasol is excreted in human milk.
