Mechanism of Action
Montelukast selectively blocks the cysteinyl leukotriene Type 1 (CysLT1) receptor, preventing the actions of leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4). This reduces bronchoconstriction, inflammation, and mucus secretion, improving asthma and allergic rhinitis symptoms.

Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentration (Tmax) is reached in approximately 2-4 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP2C8, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4.
