Description
Overview of the medicine
Moov is a topical analgesic cream used for fast and effective relief from muscle pain, joint pain, backache, sprains, and strains. Its active ingredients provide warmth and counterirritant effects.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply 2-3 times a day to the affected area and gently massage until absorbed. Do not apply more than 3-4 times in 24 hours.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage, apply 2-3 times a day to the affected area.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required for topical application.
How to Take
For external use only. Apply a small amount to the affected area and gently rub it in. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
Mechanism of Action
The active ingredients in Moov act as counterirritants. Methyl Salicylate works as a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Menthol provides a cooling sensation followed by warmth. Turpentine oil and Eucalyptus oil contribute to the rubefacient effect, increasing blood flow to the applied area, which helps in pain relief and muscle relaxation.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Onset of action is typically within minutes of application.
Excretion
Minimal systemic excretion as most action is local.
Half life
Not clinically significant for topical application due to minimal systemic absorption.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption through the skin; primarily local action.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized locally in the skin; minimal systemic metabolism.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Broken or damaged skin
- Open wounds or cuts
- Eye contact
Drug Interactions
Oral Anticoagulants
Although systemic absorption is minimal, theoretical risk of increased bleeding with very large quantities applied to skin over prolonged periods with concomitant oral anticoagulants (e.g., Warfarin) due to Methyl Salicylate content. Consult a doctor.
Other Topical Products
Avoid applying other topical pain relief products to the same area simultaneously.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Overdose from topical application is unlikely. If ingested, symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and salicylate toxicity (tinnitus, hyperventilation). Seek immediate medical attention if ingested.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or lactation. While systemic absorption is low, caution is advised, especially with large or prolonged application.
