Overview of the medicine
Mycofree-OC is a combination antibiotic used to treat various bacterial and parasitic infections. It contains Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole antiprotozoal agent, providing broad-spectrum coverage.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Typically one tablet (Ofloxacin 200 mg + Ornidazole 500 mg) twice daily for 5-7 days, or as directed by physician.
Elderly
Dosage adjustment may be required in elderly patients, especially with renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Reduced dosage required for patients with creatinine clearance < 50 mL/min.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed.
Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Ornidazole causes DNA damage and inhibits nucleic acid synthesis in anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
