Overview of the medicine
Mydipin 10 mg tablet contains Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina).
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily, depending on the patient's response and tolerability.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment required, but close monitoring is advised, as clearance may be reduced.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is necessary.
How to Take
Take orally once daily, with or without food, at approximately the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Amlodipine works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart.

Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Simvastatin
Limit simvastatin dose to 20 mg/day when co-administered with amlodipine.
CYP3A4 Inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir)
May increase amlodipine exposure, requiring dose reduction.
CYP3A4 Inducers (e.g., rifampicin, St. John's Wort)
May decrease amlodipine plasma concentrations.
Storage
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Overdose may lead to excessive peripheral vasodilation with marked hypotension and possibly reflex tachycardia. Management involves supportive measures, including monitoring of cardiac and respiratory function, elevation of extremities, and administration of IV fluids.

Pregnancy Category C. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Small amounts excreted in breast milk; caution advised for nursing mothers. Consult a doctor.
