Myrica 25 mg capsule is an anxiolytic and hypnotic medication used to treat generalized anxiety disorder and insomnia. It helps to calm the nervous system and promote sleep.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 25 mg once daily at bedtime for insomnia or 25 mg twice daily for anxiety. May be increased to 50 mg daily based on response.
Elderly
Initial dose 12.5 mg once daily at bedtime, adjust carefully based on response and tolerability.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment. Use with caution in severe renal impairment (CrCl < 30 mL/min).
How to Take
Take orally with a glass of water, with or without food. For insomnia, take at bedtime. For anxiety, take as directed by your physician.
Mechanism of Action
Myricacin Hydrochloride acts as a selective serotonin-dopamine modulator (SSDM). It selectively targets specific serotonin and dopamine receptors in the brain, leading to anxiolytic and hypnotic effects without significant sedative side effects associated with traditional benzodiazepines.

Within 30-60 minutes for anxiolytic effect, 15-30 minutes for hypnotic effect.

Excreted mainly through urine (70%) and feces (30%) as metabolites.

Storage

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, confusion, slow reflexes, and breathing difficulties. Treatment is primarily supportive, including airway management, gastric lavage, and administration of activated charcoal. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use only if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Not recommended during breastfeeding as it may pass into breast milk.
