Naviscon 500 mg Suspension provides rapid and long-lasting relief from heartburn and indigestion. It works by forming a protective layer on top of the stomach contents, preventing acid reflux.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage
Renal_impairment
Use with caution due to sodium content; consult a physician.
How to Take
Shake well before use. Take orally, usually after meals and at bedtime.
Mechanism of Action
Sodium alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a protective raft which floats on the stomach contents, physically blocking reflux. Sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate provide additional antacid action.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Digoxin
May decrease absorption.
Iron preparations
May reduce absorption. Take antacid at least 2 hours before or after iron supplements.
Tetracyclines & Quinolones (e.g., Ciprofloxacin)
May reduce absorption. Take antacid at least 2 hours before or after these antibiotics.
Storage
Store below 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include abdominal discomfort, bloating. Management is supportive.
