Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
500 mg once daily for 7-10 days, depending on the type and severity of infection.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is typically needed for elderly patients with normal renal function.
Renal_impairment
Dose reduction advised for patients with creatinine clearance (CrCl) < 30 mL/min.
How to Take
Nesotem can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Nesotem works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis or cell wall formation, leading to bacterial cell death.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Nesotem or any components of the formulation
- History of tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with fluoroquinolone use
Drug Interactions
Warfarin
May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, requiring close monitoring of INR and prothrombin time.
Theophylline
Potential for increased plasma levels of theophylline, leading to toxicity. Monitor theophylline levels.
Antacids (containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium)
May significantly decrease the absorption of Nesotem. Administer Nesotem at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after antacids.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

In case of overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be initiated. Gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered. Hemodialysis is not effective in removing Nesotem.
