Description
Overview of the medicine
Nevola 100 mg Tablet is an antidepressant medication used to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and panic disorder by affecting certain chemicals in the brain.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 50 mg once daily, may be increased to 100 mg daily after several weeks. Maximum recommended dose is 200 mg daily.
Elderly
Lower starting doses (e.g., 25 mg) may be considered, with gradual titration based on response and tolerability.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment required for mild to moderate renal impairment. Caution advised in severe impairment.
How to Take
Nevola tablets should be taken orally, once daily, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Nevola (Nevoline Hydrochloride) acts by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin by neurons in the central nervous system. This increases the concentration of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, thereby enhancing serotonergic neurotransmission.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Therapeutic effects may take 2-4 weeks to become apparent, with full effect potentially taking longer.
Excretion
Mainly excreted via urine and feces as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 24-30 hours, allowing for once-daily dosing.
Absorption
Well absorbed orally, peak plasma concentrations typically reached within 4-8 hours. Food may slightly delay absorption but does not significantly alter bioavailability.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP enzymes, to inactive metabolites.
