Description
Overview of the medicine
Quiet 100 mg Tablet is a sedative-hypnotic medication used for the short-term treatment of insomnia and anxiety disorders. It helps to calm the brain and induce sleep.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose: 100 mg orally once daily at bedtime for insomnia. For anxiety: 50 mg two to three times daily. Max 300 mg/day.
Elderly
Initial dose: 50 mg orally once daily at bedtime, or 25 mg two times daily for anxiety. Adjust based on response and tolerability.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment typically required for mild to moderate impairment. Use with caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with water, preferably on an empty stomach for faster absorption. For insomnia, take immediately before going to bed. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Quiet acts by binding to specific GABA-A receptor subunits in the brain, enhancing the effects of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter. This leads to reduced neuronal excitability, producing sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, and anticonvulsant effects.

15-30 minutes
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine (approx. 60%) and feces (approx. 40%) as metabolites.
Half life
2.5-4 hours
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching peak plasma concentrations within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver primarily by CYP3A4 and other cytochrome P450 enzymes into inactive metabolites.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms include somnolence, confusion, impaired coordination, diminished reflexes, and coma. Treatment is supportive, including gastric lavage if recent ingestion, and monitoring vital signs. Flumazenil may be used as an antidote in severe cases, but with caution.
