Description
Overview of the medicine
Roket 10 mg Tablet contains Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. It is used for the relief of muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions as an adjunct to rest and physical therapy.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The usual dose is 5 mg three times a day. Based on individual patient response, the dose may be increased to 10 mg three times a day. Doses should not exceed 30 mg/day for more than 2-3 weeks.
Elderly
Use with caution. Start with 5 mg once a day, gradually increasing to 5 mg two or three times a day if needed. Not recommended in patients 65 years or older due to increased risk of side effects.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment provided, but use with caution due to potential accumulation of metabolites. Not recommended in severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet; swallow whole.
Mechanism of Action
Cyclobenzaprine acts on the brainstem and spinal cord to reduce tonic somatic motor activity. It is structurally related to tricyclic antidepressants and its action is believed to be mediated by effects on the norepinephrine and serotonin systems.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Approximately 1 hour
Excretion
Mainly excreted via the kidneys as metabolites. Some excretion via feces.
Half life
18 hours (range 8-37 hours)
Absorption
Well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma concentrations are reached in about 1.5 to 8 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by N-demethylation and conjugation, followed by excretion of glucuronide conjugates.

Doctor Notes
- Prescribe for short-term use only (2-3 weeks) for acute muscle spasm.
- Assess for underlying conditions contributing to muscle spasm before prescribing.
- Advise patients about potential for drowsiness, dizziness, and avoidance of alcohol or other CNS depressants.
