Overview of the medicine
Salbu 4 mg Tablet contains Salbutamol, a fast-acting bronchodilator used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial: 2-4 mg three to four times daily. Max: 8 mg four times daily.
Elderly
Lower initial doses (e.g., 2 mg three to four times daily) may be considered, adjusted according to response.
Renal_impairment
No specific dose adjustment required, but caution is advised in severe impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenoceptor agonist. It works by stimulating beta-2 receptors in the smooth muscle of the airways, leading to relaxation and bronchodilation. This helps to open up the airways, making breathing easier.

Contraindications

Increased risk of hypokalemia.
